Analysis Process

The preferred rail alignment was identified through a three-level environmental review process that evaluated each option based on the ability of the alternative to meet the project purpose and need and environmental, socioeconomic, cultural, and economic impacts.

It also meets the characteristics and criteria identified by Palmetto Railways for the proposed project.

What if my land or home is impacted?

With our land acquisition process we strive to build positive, long-term relationships with landowners.

We will:

  • Seek Right of Entry Agreements to conduct field assessments of your property.
  • Engage in a fair property acquisition process and negotiate compensation, terms and conditions.
  • Restore or provide compensation for damage caused by construction and/or post-construction activities, where warranted.
  • Provide long-term maintenance of the rail corridor.

Palmetto Railways has adopted and intends to follow the procedures for relocation and acquisition, as well as all applicable laws, adopted by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (www.scdot.org).
